Clyde Miller

Funeral services for Clyde Miller, 85, Lawrence, will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Lawrence. Private inurnment will be at a later date in Mount Olive Cemetery in Lake Havasu City, Ariz. Mr. Miller died Friday, Oct. 3, 2008, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital. He was born on Oct. 13, 1922, in Irwin, Pa., the son of Clyde W. and Della Futcher Miller. He grew up in Detroit and moved from Lake Havasu City, Ariz., to Lawrence in December 2005.Mr. Miller served in the U.S. Navy and completed pilot training. He was a retired inspector with the John Deere Tractor Co. in Waterloo, Iowa, where he worked for 30 years.He was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Lawrence and a former charter member of Lamb of God Lutheran Church in Arizona. He also volunteered for Cans for the Community in Lawrence. He and his wife had six foster children in their home.He married Carrie Bowers on June 16, 1945, in Alameda, Calif. She survives, of the home. Other survivors include three daughters, Linda Klinker and husband Walt, Lawrence, Nancy Black and husband Doug, Holly Lake Ranch, Texas, and Peggy Wilhelms and husband Lee, Shell Rock, Iowa; a sister, Jeannie Glassel, Howell, Mich.; eight grandchildren, Bo, Joe, Katie, Rachel, Matt, Sarah, Chad and Michael; and six great-grandchildren.The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday at the church before services.
