Clayton L. Frost

Funeral services for Clayton L. Frost, 84, Topeka, will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel in Topeka. Burial with military honors will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery.Mr. Frost died Thursday, Nov. 27, 2008, at Midland Hospice House.He was born March 21, 1924, in Lawrence, the son of Robert M. and Alice M. Hundley Frost. He graduated from Liberty Memorial High School in Lawrence in 1942 and enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Force in December 1942. He served in World War II in the Southwest Pacific and Asiatic Pacific theaters as a heavy equipment operator and was honorably discharged in January 1946 at the rank of Tech Sergeant Fourth Grade.He owned and operated an excavating company in the Lawrence area and retired from the City of Topeka Water Department as a welder after 23 years.Mr. Frost was a member of Quivira Heights Church of Christ for 46 years. He was involved in the World Bible School program and various church ministries. He was also a member of the National Rifle Association and Veterans of Foreign Wars.He married Edith M. Mitchell on March 15, 1942, in Lawrence. She survives, of the home. Other survivors include a son, Robert “Bob,” Topeka; two daughters, JoAnn Kirk and husband Steve, Topeka, and Linda Frost, Neosho Rapids; three grandchildren, Christa Webber, Josie Kirk-Pagel and Liesel Kirk-Fink; and seven great-grandchildren, Chloe, Cavan and Coco Webber, Titan and Taylen Pagel, and Grayson and Payton Fink.He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, R.
