Roy D. Crawford 1920 - 2008 Overbrook
Centropolis — Funeral services for Roy D. Crawford, 88, Overbrook, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Centropolis Christian Church. Burial will be at Union Cemetery, Centropolis.Mr. Crawford died Friday, Nov. 21, 2008, at his home.He was born on May 26, 1920, in Centropolis, the son of Samuel and Effie Harshman Crawford. He graduated from Appanoose High School with the class of 1939.Mr. Crawford was a lifelong farmer and dairyman. He also worked in the maintenance department of Baker University from 1967 to 1972, and was head of maintenance for the Baldwin City school district at Baldwin High School from 1972 to 1983.He was a member of Centropolis Christian Church, and had served as a board member and deacon.He married Helen Rhine on Aug. 15, 1942, in Ottawa. She survives, of the home. Other survivors include four daughters, Dee Ann Shuck, Ottawa, Claudia Terrell, Lawrence, and Nancy Sanders and husband Tom and Lois Ardahl and husband Jay, all of Overbrook; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Clyde; a grandson, Clifford Sudja; a son-in-law, Leonard Shuck; three brothers, Ivan, Earl and an infant; and two sisters, Lucille Emrich and Violet Bryan.Friends may call from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday at Dengel & Son Mortuary in Ottawa. The family will meet friends from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Centropolis Christian Church.The family suggests memorials to Centropolis Christian Church, sent in care of the mortuary, 235 S.
