Dale G. Briman

Topeka — Memorial services for Dale G. Briman, 85, a lifelong Topekan, will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Penwell-Gabel Midtown Chapel, Topeka. Cremation is planned. Mr. Briman died Saturday, Nov. 22, 2008, at Brewster Place in Topeka. He was born Nov. 18, 1923, the son of Morris and Rose Briman. He graduated from Topeka High School in 1942.After high school, he joined the U.S. Army Air Forces, and served in World War II from 1942 to 1945.Upon returning to Topeka from the war, Mr. Briman joined the family business, Briman’s Leading Jewelers, with his father and a brother, Bernie. Mr. Briman served on the boards of numerous organizations. He was one of the founding members of Downtown Topeka Inc. in 1964. He also served on the boards of directors of the Topeka Performing Arts Center, Top of the Tower Club, Sertoma Club and Shawnee Country Club. He was a member of Temple Beth Sholom in Topeka.Mr. Briman loved convertibles, dogs, golf, electronics and boating. He married Joan Walsh in 1953. She survives.Other survivors include two sons, Steve and wife Derie and Rob and wife Carol; four grandchildren, Caitlin, Max, Mandy and Russell; and two great-grandchildren, Jackson and Corbin.He was preceded in death by his parents and his two older brothers, Raymond and Bernie. Immediately following the services Tuesday, the family will meet friends at a reception at the Brewster East Community Room, located on the Brewster Place Campus at 900 SW 31st St.The family suggests memorials to the Brewster Place Foundation, designated to the Benevolent Care Fund, 1205 SW 29th St., Topeka, KS 66611, or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
