Funeral services for Arlo Dean Wise, 85, Oskaloosa, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Barnett-Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Oskaloosa. Graveside services with U.S. Air Force military honors will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Maple Wood Cemetery in Barnes.Mr. Wise died Friday, Nov. 21, 2008, at Midland Hospice House in Topeka.He was born Dec. 26, 1922, in Barnes, the son of Edward Cornelius and Nellie Ruth Gano Wise. He lived in Oskaloosa three years, moving from Barnes, where he was a lifelong resident. He graduated from Barnes High School in 1940.Mr. Wise retired as a Master Sergeant from the U.S. Air Force after serving from 1943 to 1966. He served in World War II, Korea and Vietnam. After his military retirement, he worked as a courier for the Bankers Dispatch Company for the Federal Reserve Banks and retired in 1985. He was a member of Barnes United Methodist Church, Barnes American Legion Post No. 145, a 50-year member of I.O.O.F. Odd Fellows Lodge and Rebekah Lodge, both of Frankfort, and a 50-year member of the Masonic Lodge A.F. & A.M. No. 91 in Marysville. He married Dorothy Jane Peterson on Oct. 21, 1951, in Waterville. She survives, of the home.Other survivors include two sons, Alan, Oskaloosa, and Gary, Topeka; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.Friends may call from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
