Wesley Q. Frazier

Funeral services for Wesley Q. “Hoop” Frazier, 75, Lawrence, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary. Burial will be at Underwood Cemetery in Jefferson County.Mr. Frazier died Saturday, Nov. 15, 2008, at Douglas County Visiting Nurses Association, Rehabilitation and Hospice Care Cottage.He was born May 30, 1933, in Browning, Mo., the son of William and Mary Elizabeth “Lizzy” Stephson Frazier.Mr. Frazier moved to Lawrence in 1959. He worked for LRM for many years. He was also employed by Hamm Query and the city of Lawrence.He married Harriet Jean Wylie on March 17, 1955. She died Aug. 26, 2002.He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Patty Ann Wilks.Survivors include a son, Terry, Kansas City, Mo.; two brothers, William, Kansas City, Mo., and Charles, California; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and his partner, Grace Helmert, Lawrence, and her children, Terry Helmert, Tonganoxie, Tracey Durkes-Libel, Winchester, and Linda Pearce and Wanda Lewis, both of Lawrence.The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at the mortuary.The family suggests memorials to the VNA, sent in care of the mortuary.Online condolences may be sent to warrenmc elwain.com, subject: Frazier.
