A funeral Mass for Daniel C. "Dan" Murphy, Sr., 91, Bonner Springs, will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Holy Angels Catholic Church in Basehor. Burial will be in Holy Angels Cemetery in Basehor.Mr. Murphy died Monday, May 12, 2008, at his home.He was born Jan. 21, 1917, on a farm near Bonner Springs that was originally homesteaded by his grandfather, John Murphy Sr., in 1865. He attended Glenwood grade school and graduated from Tonganoxie Rural High School in 1934. Mr. Murphy spent his entire life farming. He operated a dairy farm until 1985 and then a cattle farm.He married Blanche Klamet on Sept. 16, 1946, at Sacred Heart Church in Bonner Springs. She survives, of the home.Other survivors include three sons, Daniel Jr. and wife Linda, Des Moines, Iowa, Richard, Bonner Springs, and Jim and wife Leila, Centennial, Colo.; four daughters, Janet Turini and husband Barry, Kingswood, Texas, Marilyn Sullivan and husband John, Wuerzburg, Germany, Carol Westfall, Auburn, and Norene Ryks and husband Eric, Bellevue, Neb.; a sister, Helen Murphy, Kansas City, Kan.; 13 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at Quisenberry Funeral Home in Tonganoxie, where a rosary will be said at 7 p.m. Thursday.The family suggests memorials to the Holy Angels Catholic Church Building Fund or American Cancer Society, sent in care of Quisenberry Funeral Home, P.O.
