Bonnie J. Uhlrich 1925 - 2008 Tonganoxie
A family graveside service for Bonnie J. Uhlrich, 83, Tonganoxie, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Hubbel Hill Cemetery in Tonganoxie.Mrs. Uhlrich died Monday, May 12, 2008, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.She was born Feb. 22, 1925, in Williamstown, the daughter of John A. and Naomi Ellis Black. She was a resident of Lawrence Presbyterian Manor since January 2000.Mrs. Uhlrich worked at Hercules at the Sunflower Army Ammunition Plant in De Soto from 1952 to 1955. She was part-owner of Uhlrich Mobil Oil Co. for 27 years. She and her husband became foster parents in 1963 and cared for more than 100 children during a 23-year period. She was a member of the United Methodist church, La Sertoma Club and volunteered at the Good Shepherd Thrift Shop, all in Tonganoxie.She married Bernard F. Uhlrich on June 27, 1941, in Jefferson County. He died in March 2003. Mrs. Uhlrich also was preceded in death by two sons, Francis and James; a grandson, David; and three brothers, Eugene, Clifford and Bill. Survivors include a daughter, Cheryl Packard and husband Chuck, Lawrence; a daughter-in-law, Jane Uhlrich, Greenwood, Mo.; and three grandchildren, C. Ashley and Angie Packard and Ben Uhlrich.The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Quisenberry Funeral Home in Tonganoxie.The family suggests memorials to the United Methodist church, sent in care of the funeral home, P.O.
