Warren N. Lesh 1914 - 2008 Lawrence
Memorial services for Warren N. Lesh, 93, Lawrence, will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary. Entombment will be at the Mausoleum in Mount Hope Cemetery in Topeka. Mr. Lesh died Tuesday, May 6, 2008, at Brandon Woods Retirement Community. He was born Nov. 21, 1914, in Emporia, the son of Edgar J. Lesh and Florence Nightengale. He graduated from Emporia High School and Emporia State University with Bachelor of Science degrees in business and education. He earned his CPA certificate in 1946. He moved from Tulsa, Okla., to Lawrence in 1948.Mr. Lesh taught for several years and later worked for Arthur Young and Co. accountants in Tulsa, Okla. He opened his own accounting firm in Lawrence and was a partner in the local accounting firm of Lesh, Barrand and Schehrer. He retired in 1976. He was a volunteer reader for Audio-Reader for more than 20 years. He was a member of Kappa Sigma Epsilon fraternity, a life member of the Kansas Society of CPAs, a member of American Institute of CPAs and a member of CPAs in Oklahoma since 1946. Mr. Lesh was a director of Kansas Society of CPAs, First National Bank of Lawrence, United Way, Salvation Army and the Chamber of Commerce. He was a member of the Lawrence Rotary Club, where he was treasurer from 1982 to 1997 and received the Paul Harris Award in 1989. He had a life membership in Emporia State and Kansas University alumni associations. He was a member of Lawrence Presbyterian Church and the Masonic Lodge 12 A.F.&A.M. in Emporia.Mr. Lesh married Roberta Works on June 25, 1939, in Humboldt. She survives, of the home.
