Pearl Wertzberger 1914 - 2008 Lawrence
Private family inurnment services for Pearl Wertzberger, 93, Lawrence, will be at a later date in Memorial Park Cemetery.Mrs. Wertzberger died Tuesday, May 6, 2008, at Cooper Care Home in Lawrence. She was born July 14, 1914 in Emmett, the daughter of John Bernhard and Ella May Johnson Lindquist. She was valedictorian of her Emmett High School class of 1932 and attended Kansas State University for two years, where she was a member of the Alpha Xi Delta sorority.Mrs. Wertzberger owned and operated the Wertzberger Beauty Salon from 1950 until 1970. She was a member of Eastern Star and was also a pianist.She married Melvon Hudson Wertzberger on Feb. 9, 1934, in Liberty, Mo. He died in December 1963. She married Robert Miller in December 1970 in Leavenworth. He died in 1987. Mrs. Wertzberger was also preceded in death by her companion of several years, Odell Wiley, and a son, John Wertzberger.Survivors include a son, Kenneth Wertzberger, Lawrence; a daughter, Phyllis Wertzberger McAdoo, Lawrence; eight grandchildren, Karl, Kurt, Greg, Mark and Sarah Wertzberger, Kirsten Wertzberger Krug, and Christopher and Lynne McAdoo; and five great-grandchildren. A celebration of life will be from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary with an optional time for sharing memories at 7 p.m. Saturday.The family suggests memorials to the Juvenile Diabetes Association, Lawrence Memorial Hospital Endowment or a charity of the donor's choice, sent in care of the mortuary.Online condolences be sent at <a href="http://www.warrenmcelwain.com">www.warrenmcelwain.com</a>, subject: Wertzberger.
