Rita M. Schmidtberger 1927 - 2008 Lawrence

Funeral services for Rita M. Schmidtberger, 80, Lawrence, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Lawrence. Burial will follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery.Mrs. Schmidtberger died May 6, 2008, at home.She was born Nov. 27, 1927, in Hays, the daughter of Clement and Anna Stramel.Mrs. Schmidtberger began work as a bookkeeper at Lawrence Decorating Service in 1951. She was a member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church, American Legion Auxiliary and a lifetime member of the Lawrence Bowling Association. She played bridge and was an avid sports fan.She married Virgil Schmidtberger on June 22, 1948, in Hays. He survives, of the home.Other survivors include a son, Gary and wife Evelyn, Lawrence; a daughter, Cathy Raddatz and husband John, Overland Park; three brothers, Eugene, Mancos, Colo., Jim, Hays, and Frank, Glen Elder; a sister, Irene Walters, Hays; three grandchildren, Kristine Vogt, Karen Ingersoll and Ian Raddatz; and two great-grandsons, Aaron and Luke Vogt.A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. today at the church.The family suggests memorials to the Corpus Christi Catholic Church Building Fund or Douglas County Visiting Nurses Association, sent in care of the mortuary.Online condolences may be sent at <a href="http://www.warrenmcelwain.com">www.warrenmcelwain.com</a>, subject: Schmidtberger.
