Donna J. Stewart 1930 - 2008 Lawrence
Funeral services for Donna J. Stewart, 77, Lawrence, will be at 11 a.m. Monday at First Christian Church in Lawrence. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Mrs. Stewart died Monday, May 5, 2008, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.She was born June 25, 1930, in rural Franklin County, the daughter of William R. and Frances A. Keithline Cartmill. She graduated from Ottawa High School. Mrs. Stewart worked at Gambles Stores, Tempo Stores, First Christian Church, the Kansas School of Religion and Douglas County Farm Bureau before she retired. She was a member of First Christian Church, Disciples of Christ. She was a team leader of the First Christian Church Care Ministry team, a church elder, a member of the Leadership Board and served on various church committees. Mrs. Stewart was a member of the 49ers E.A.U., Epsilon Sigma Alpha sorority, and the University Women's Club and its Antiques Interest Group. She was also active in the Lawrence Parkinson's Support Group and was a member of several local bridge clubs.She married George E. Stewart on May 29, 1949, in Ottawa. He survives, of the home.Other survivors include three daughters, Pamela Larson and husband Bob, West Des Moines, Iowa, Su Carlisle and husband Tim, Kansas City, Kan., and Kristen Reber and husband Steve, Newton; two sons, Dr. Randy Stewart and wife Jadene, Hamilton, Mont., and Scott Stewart, Chapel Hill, N.C.; a sister, May Gorton, Baldwin City; a brother, Max Cartmill, Ottawa; 12 grandchildren, Bob, Taran and Gaby Carlisle, Erin Stewart, Ryan, Tessa and Joel Larson, Katie Lyttle, Tumi and T.K. Shadreck, and Joe and Hannah Reber; and four great-grandchildren.The family will receive friends from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary.The family suggests memorials to First Christian Church or the Parkinson's Foundation of the Heartland, sent in care of the mortuary.Online condolences may be sent to <a href="http://www.warrenmcelwain.com">www.warrenmcelwain.com</a>, subject: Stewart.
