Florence Letha Story 1916 - 2008 Baldwin City
Services for Florence Letha Story, 91, Baldwin City, will be at 11:30 a.m. Monday at Ives Chapel United Methodist Church in Baldwin City. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery in Baldwin City.Mrs. Story died Thursday, May 1, 2008, at her grandson's home in Baldwin City.She was born June 13, 1916, in Baldwin City, the daughter of Jesse and Eva Medlock Sayler. She grew up and attended school in Baldwin City.Mrs. Story was a homemaker. She was a longtime member of Ives Chapel United Methodist Church in Baldwin City, where she was active with United Methodist Women. She was a member of Douglas County Family and Community Education. She enjoyed making homemade pies and having family dinners.She married Milo Story on Dec. 10, 1932, in Ottawa. They shared more than 59 years of marriage. He died in June 1992. Mrs. Story was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Lyle and Jack Story; a daughter, Shirley Russell; two sisters; and a brother.Survivors include a son, Charles Story, Baldwin City; a sister, Mildred Foster, Meriden; 14 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday at Lamb-Roberts Funeral Home in Baldwin City.The family suggests memorials to the church, sent in care of the funeral home, 712 9th Street, P.O.
