Felix M. Karlin

Mass of Resurrection for Felix M. Karlin, 80, Lawrence, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 10, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Private inurnment will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery.Mr. Karlin died Wednesday, April 30, 2008, at his home.He was born Sept. 2, 1927, in Hays, the son of Leo and Martha Etzel Karlin. He moved from Hays to Lawrence in 1955.Mr. Karlin worked in cable repair for Southwestern Bell for 43 years before he retired. He was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church and was actively involved with Lawrence Habitat for Humanity.He married Henrietta Brungardt on May 20, 1953. She died Jan. 6, 1999.Survivors include his longtime companion, Ruby Ducate; two daughters, Donna Coffman and husband Dann, Lawrence, Pam Henry and husband Randy, Broken Arrow, Okla.; six sons, Rod and wife Karol Younger, Dearborn, Mo., Terry and partner Tim Smith, Shawnee, Gary and wife Pam, Baldwin City, Tom and wife Anne, Shawnee, Pat and wife Mary Beth, Lawrence, and Jason and wife Ricci, Shawnee; three brothers, John, Hillsboro, Ore., Tom, Lakewood, Wash., and Peter, Beloit; three sisters, Leonissa Karlin, Mary Martha Karlin, both of Fond du Lac, Wis., and Betty Pfeifer, Hays; 19 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.The family suggests memorials to Lawrence Habitat for Humanity, sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary.Online condolences may be sent to www.warrenmcelwain.com, subject: Karlin.
