E. Lily Bignall 1914 - 2008 Lawrence

Services for E. Lily Bignall, 93, Lawrence, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Memorial Park Cemetery.Mrs. Bignall died Friday, March 28, 2008, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.She was born on April 12, 1914, in Capita, Texas, the daughter of Jesse and Ethel Pruett Crissman. She moved to Lawrence in 1931. She graduated from Liberty Memorial High School in 1932.She worked at Kress and Woolworth Stores and at Hannah's Appliances for 13 years as a bookkeeper. She worked at Kansas Public Services for 13 years as a dispatcher and billing clerk. She retired in 1979.She was a member of Central United Methodist Church for 70 years and Friendship Rebekah Lodge No. 754. She was a past noble grand in Rebekah and was also a financial secretary and chaplain.She married Fred W. Bignall on Sept. 2, 1933, in Lawrence. He preceded her in death on March 19, 1997.Survivors include two daughters, Nancy McGinnis, Independence, Mo., and Barbara Goddard, Overbrook; a son, Robert Bignall, Topeka; seven grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.The family will greet friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary.The family suggests memorials to Employees Recognition Committee of Brandon Woods Retirement Community, sent in care of the mortuary.Online condolences may be sent at <a href="http://www.warrenmcelwain.com">www.warrenmcelwain.com</a>, subject: Bignall.
