Donald A. Dieckhaus

Funeral services for Donald A. Dieckhaus, 86, Overland Park, will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Atonement Lutheran Church in Overland Park. Inurnment will be in Leavenworth National Cemetery.Mr. Dieckhaus died Tuesday, March 25, 2008, at Overland Park Regional Medical Center.He attended Cathedral Grade School and De La Salle High School in Kansas City. Mr. Dieckhaus served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the South Pacific with the 989th Signal Service Company. He was a longtime employee of Hallmark Cards and retired from Western Publishing, maker of Golden Books, in 1985.He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara, in 1998.Survivors include a son, Michael and wife Janice, Overland Park; a daughter, Patricia Dieckhaus and partner Nancy Workman, Lawrence; a sister, Leona Hagan, Woodbury, Minn.; six grandchildren, Heidi Walker, Gretchen Kephart, Andrei Kamikov and Brittany, Bret and Haley Dieckhaus; and two great-grandchildren.The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at McGilley & Hoge Chapel in Overland Park.The family suggests memorials to the Orphan Train Heritage Society, P.O.
