Ruth Carmen Tah McHenry

Funeral services for Ruth Carmen Tah McHenry, 70, Broken Arrow, will be at 2 p.m. today at Broken Arrow Indian United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Park Grove Cemetery in Broken Arrow.Mrs. McHenry died Saturday, March 22, 2008, at Southcrest Hospital in Tulsa.She was born Feb. 11, 1938, in Pawnee, the daughter of the Rev. Wesley and Ardelia Cries-For-Ribs Tah. She graduated from Haskell Institute in 1956 and was a former resident of Lawrence, Kan. She moved from Tonkawa to Broken Arrow 40 years ago.Mrs. McHenry was a member of the Ponca and Tonkawa tribes but was an enrolled member of the Apache Tribe. She was a member of the Haskell Alumni Chapter of Oklahoma and Broken Arrow Indian United Methodist Church.She married Charles “Chuck” McHenry on Nov. 30, 1968, in Broken Arrow. He survives, of the home.Other survivors include four daughters, Vickie and Sherri Brokeshoulder and Claudina Littlehead, all of Broken Arrow, and Tammy Tyner, Tahlequah; two sons, Charles W. and James McHenry, both of Broken Arrow; three sisters, Valeta Birdcreek and Loretta Tah, both of Tulsa, and Sharon Tah Romero, Lawrence, Kan.; three brothers, Donovan Tah, Locust Grove, Michael Tah, Red Rock, and Kyle Dean Tah, Grove; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.The family suggests memorials to the church, 20854 E. 141st St., Broken Arrow, OK 74014. Hayhurst Funeral Home in Broken Arrow is in charge of arrangements.
