Janice Lorene Stover Madl 1916 - 2008 rural Baldwin City
Mass of Christian Burial for Janice Lorene Stover Madl, 91, rural Baldwin City, will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Annunciation Catholic Church in Baldwin City. Burial will follow in Mount Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Baldwin City.Mrs. Madl died Thursday, March 13, 2008, at her home.She was born May 31, 1916, in Wellsville, the daughter of Joseph Perry and May Dean Greer Stover. She grew up and attended schools in Baldwin City and graduated from Baldwin High School in 1934.Mrs. Madl worked for the American Telephone Company in Baldwin City for seven years. She was also a homemaker and farmer's wife. She was a member of Annunciation Catholic Church and the Rebekah Lodge.She enjoyed tending her flowers, mowing her lawn, baking pies and cookies for her grandchildren and attending all of their activities. She also enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.She married Arthur Francis Madl on Dec. 15, 1941, in Eudora. They shared more than 46 years of marriage. He died Dec. 18, 1987.She was also preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Jay Perry Stover; and three great-grandchildren, Jordan Phillips, Trevor Leeker and Brandon Burkhart.Survivors include two sons, Ted Stover Madl and wife Peach, and Jay Arthur Madl and wife Karen, all of Baldwin City; 10 grandchildren, Cindy Garrett, Michelle Leeker, Tiffany Whitney, Stacy Burkhart, Josie Flory and Teddy, Klee, Betsy, Ellie and Andrew Madl; 17 great-grandchildren, Cameron, Drew, Zac, Hope, Ashlyn, Adelyn, Cassidy, Ramie, Hunter, Garrett, Hayden, Keaton, Kyler, Maggie, Lacey, Halley and Maris.A rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. Sunday at the church, after which the family will receive friends until 8 p.m.The family suggests memorials to Mount Calvary Catholic Cemetery, sent in care of Lamb-Roberts Funeral Home, P.O.
