Dallas E. Dolan 1927 - 2008 Lawrence
Funeral services for Dallas E. Dolan, 80, Lawrence, will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.Mr. Dolan died Friday, March 14, 2008, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.He was born Oct. 26, 1927, in Douglas County, the son of Edgar Thomas and Edna Mae Fetty Dolan. He attended Liberty Memorial High School.Mr. Dolan worked at the Lawrence Journal-World for 64 years, first as a pressman, then as a production manager and finally as a consultant. He invented the four-sided newspaper cart and a watering system for offset presses. He was a charter member of the Mid-America Mechanical Conference for more than 30 years, and Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 309.He married Donna Beaty. They divorced. He married Nadine L. "Deanie" Schweitzberger Farrier on Oct. 26, 1974, in Lawrence. She survives, of the home.Other survivors include a son, Dallas J. and wife Suzanne, Lawrence; two stepsons, Rick Farrier and wife LeAnn, Eudora, and Jim Farrier and wife Doris, Altus, Ark.; two daughters, Nancy Porter and Rhonda Dolan, both of Lawrence; a sister, Norma DeWeese and husband Carroll, Lawrence; a sister-in-law, Delores Dolan, Lawrence; nine grandchildren, Dan and Jerry Porter, Jay and Christina Dolan, Joshua Hackathorn, Jonnie Hofmann, Chris Hood, Dean Butz and Kelly Jones; and seven great-grandchildren, Marlena, Nathan, Thomas, Grace and Naomi Porter, Alexis Hood and Isaiah Hofmann Hart.He was preceded in death by a son, Jay D.; four brothers, Thomas, Carroll, Richard and Lloyd; and a son-in-law, Butch Porter.Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, where the family will receive them from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday.
