Richard A. Cobb

Funeral services for Richard A. Cobb, 75, Oskaloosa, will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Barnett-Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Oskaloosa. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery in Oskaloosa.Mr. Cobb died Monday, March 10, 2008, at his home.He was born Jan. 9, 1933, in Cushing, Okla., the son of Harvey Stanley and Lillie Belle Myrick Cobb. He graduated from Cushing High School in 1951. He received a Bachelor of Science in industrial arts from Oklahoma State University in 1955 and a master’s degree in education from Emporia State University.Mr. Cobb served in the U.S. Army as a second lieutenant from 1956 to 1958. He was an industrial arts teacher at Valley Falls High School for 27 years, retiring in 1995. He also taught for 10 years in Cushing. He was a member of the Oskaloosa Church of Christ, the Kansas Teachers Association and National Teachers Association.He married Norma Jean Cogburn on June 10, 1956, in Chickasha, Okla. She survives, of the home. Other survivors include four sons, Rick, Perry, Mo., Brad, Turlock, Calif., Brent, Hannibal, Mo., and Ed, Medford, Ore.; a daughter, Brenda Bertels, Nortonville; two brothers, Bill, Henderson, Texas, and Lee A., Coweta, Okla.; a sister, Dorothy Ellen Reagan, Cushing; 11 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Mr. Cobb was preceded in death by a granddaughter.The family will receive friends from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Barnett-Chapel Oaks Funeral Home.
