Lewis Edgar Gillard 1925 - 2008 Lawrence
Funeral services for Lewis Edgar Gillard, 82, Lawrence, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary. Graveside services with military honors will be at 12:30 p.m. Thursday in Leavenworth National Cemetery.Mr. Gillard died Sunday, March 2, 2008, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.He was born July 14, 1925, in Tulsa, Okla., the son of Lewis E. and Lily Verstraeten Gillard.Mr. Gillard served in the U.S. Navy in World War II as a metalsmith, second class, in the 52nd Naval Battalion. He worked for Western Electric for 42 years as a supervisor of installation in the Midwest.He married Patricia Romaine Cochran on Feb. 14, 1948, in Tulsa, Okla. They divorced Sept. 13, 1973. He married Kay Goodwin on Sept. 5, 1992. She survives, of the home.Other survivors include a daughter, Loreta Francis Gillard, Tucson, Ariz.; three sons, Lewis E. III, Socorro, N.M., Lawrence Edward, Mission, and John H., Dallas; a stepson, Christopher John Bryan, St. Louis; a brother, Henry A., Washington, D.C.; two sisters, Yvonne Gillard, Houston, Jeanette Qualls, Sperry, Okla.; 11 grandchildren, Carla, Lewis IV, Brian, Melissa, Angela, Inna, Douglas, Nathaniel, Yvonne, Rachel and Amy; and 13 great-grandchildren.
