Ted Bechtel 1933 - 2008 Overland Park
Mass of Christian Burial for Ted Bechtel, 74, Overland Park, will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Ascension Catholic Church in Overland Park. Burial will follow in Mount Moriah Cemetery.Mr. Bechtel died Monday, June 23, 2008, at St. Joseph Hospital in Kansas City, Mo., after a brief illness.He was born Nov. 2, 1933, in Topeka, the son of Paul and Rose Wanstrath Bechtel. He graduated from Hayden High School in Topeka in 1951 and attended St. Benedict's College in Atchison on a football scholarship. He later graduated from Kansas University in 1961.Mr. Bechtel served in the U.S. Air Force for four years. He retired from the Missouri U.S. Air National Guard Reserves as a major in 1974. He retired from Shook, Hardy, and Bacon in 1999.He married Marilyn Stowe. She survives, of the home.Other survivors include three daughters, Lynn Bechtel, Lawrence, Kathy Zink, Olathe, and Christie Fischer, Overland Park, and five grandchildren.The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday at McGilley State Line Chapel in Kansas City, Mo., where a rosary will be said at 5 p.m. Thursday.The family suggests memorials to Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 11300 W. 103rd St., Overland Park, KS 66214.Online condolences may be sent at <a href="http://www.mem.com">www.mem.com</a>.
