Herbert L. Fredricks

Funeral services for Herbert L. Fredricks, 74, Ottawa, will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Lamb-Roberts Funeral Home in Ottawa.Mr. Fredricks died Thursday, June 19, 2008, at his home.He was born Feb. 25, 1934, in Homewood, the son of Clifford Curtis and Lillian Augusta Willis Fredricks. He graduated from Ottawa High School in 1952 and later attended Ottawa University.Mr. Fredricks worked as a construction worker and built bridges in the Franklin County area. He worked for Santa Fe Railroad, Harry Smith’s Auto Supply and later as a machinist for DuPont in Tecumseh. He retired after 27 years of employment.He was a member of Faith Bible Church, Ottawa Bible Church and Homewood Christian Church. He enjoyed raising cattle, gardening, hunting and especially fishing for trout in Colorado with his family. He also enjoyed attending his grandchildren’s sporting events.Mr. Fredricks married Patricia Dale on Aug. 15, 1954. They shared more than 53 years of marriage. She survives, of the home.Other survivors include a brother, Clinton Fredricks and wife Patsy, Arizona; two daughters, Christie Gorton and husband Brent, Princeton, and Lisa VanLerberg and husband Ron, Olathe; two sons, Jeff, Denver, and Bill and wife Stephanie, Homewood; nine grandchildren, Sara Lawson, Kyle Gorton, Jeremy, Tyler, Hannah and Issac Fredricks, and Kristin, Laura and Patty VanLerberg; and three great-grandchildren, Cody, Abbigail and Ethan Lawson.He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Mary Lucille King.The family will receive friends at 1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home before the services.
