Alpha LaVonne Canole

Memorial services for Alpha LaVonne Canole, 82, Topeka, will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at West Side Christian Church, Topeka. Burial will be at Mount Hope Cemetery.Mrs. Canole died Friday, June 13, 2008, at Midland Hospice House.She was born Oct. 28, 1925, in Oskaloosa, Mo., the daughter of Albert Edward and Hazel Juanita Julian.She graduated from Northeast High School in Kansas City, Mo., in 1942 and attended Washburn University.She had worked at the Morrell Meat Packing Co., the Kansas Department of Administration, the Kansas University Police Department and the Kansas Geological Survey, from which she retired in 1987.She married James Clemont Canole on May 25, 1946. He died in January 2006.Survivors include a daughter, Susan Kim Canole Crooks, Silver Lake; two sisters, Nadine Negus, Blue Springs, Mo., and JoAnn Vera, Carson City, Nev.; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.Friends may call after 3 p.m. Tuesday at the Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel in Topeka, where the family will receive them from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday.The family suggests memorials to Midland Hospice House, 200 S.W.
