Lee J. Myers 1912 - 2008 Lawrence
Services for Lee J. Myers, 96, Lawrence, will be at 3:30 p.m. Monday at Calvary Temple. Private burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.Mr. Myers died Friday, June 13, 2008, at Brandon Woods Retirement Community.He was born May 31, 1912, in Galena, the son of Patrick Jerome and Grace Stella Shira Myers. He moved from Galena to Lawrence in 1951. He retired in 1977 from Hercules Inc., where he worked as an electrician. He had been an electrician for more than 50 years. He was a life member of Masonic Lodge A.F.&A.M. in Baxter Springs and the Scottish Rite Bodies in Lawrence. He was a 50-year member of Electrical Workers Local 226 in Topeka. Mr. Myers married Merle Marie Hill on July 4, 1934, in Seneca, Mo. She died June 12, 2002. Survivors include a son, Verlon Myers, Lawrence; two brothers; Norman, Galena, and Chester, Wheatridge, Colo.; a sister, Waunita Scott, Galena; six grandchildren, Karla Rex, Kandace Lantz, Kathryn Baughman, Michelle Byrn, James Myers and William Lee Myers; and 11 great-grandchildren. Mr. Myers was preceded in death by an infant child, a daughter, Joan Hollingshead, and a grandson, Kevin Douglas Coulter.The family suggests memorials to Calvary Temple or to the Lawrence Community of Christ, sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary.Online condolences may be sent at <a href="http://www.warrenmcelwain.com">www.warrenmcelwain.com</a>, subject: Myers.
