Frank E. “Red” Leet Jr.

Mass of Christian burial for Frank E. “Red” Leet Jr., 82, Shawnee, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Christ the King Catholic Church, 3024 N. 53rd St. Burial will follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery, 1150 N. 38th St. Mr. Leet died Saturday, June 14, 2008, at his home.He was born Jan. 13, 1926, in Kalamazoo, Mich., the son of Frank and Frances Leet. He worked for Kansas City, Kan., Fire Department for 22 years, including 15 years as a captain, before retiring in 1979. He worked for the Kansas City, Kan., school district from 1981 to 1990. He was a longtime member of the American Legion and a Democrat.He married Joanne Dailey on Nov. 28, 1953. She died earlier.Mr. Leet was also preceded in death by his parents, his daughters, Susie and Cheryl, brothers, Robert and Max Leet, and sister, Mary Ann Strong.Survivors include two sons, David Leet and wife Laurie, and Frank J. Leet and wife Teri; two daughters, Mary Kay Seal, and Terri Rich and husband, Tom; a sister, Elaine Boersma; a brother, Don Leet; nine grandchildren, Amber, Courtney, Devin, Claire, Nick, Emily, Christopher, Jacob and Kendra; and two great-grandchildren, Addison and Connor.Friends may call from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at Joseph A Butler and Son Funeral Home, 19th and Minnesota Ave., Kansas City, Kan.
