Curtis Lloyd Maschger

Memorial services for Curtis Lloyd Maschger, 65, Lawrence, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home.Mr. Maschger died Friday, June 6, 2008, at his home.He was born Aug. 16, 1942, in Louisville, Ill., the son of Albert and Mildred Armstrong Maschger. He served in the U.S. Air Force. He spent most of his adult life in California and had lived in Indianapolis. He moved to Lawrence in 2001.He worked for American States Insurance Co. as vice president of claims until his retirement in 2001. He enjoyed practical jokes and helping others. He was a cancer survivor. In 2006, in recognition for outstanding service and dedication to the Douglas County Extension Master Gardener Program, he was awarded the New Master Gardener of the Year Award. He married Vicky Heather on Dec. 12, 2001, in Las Vegas. She survives, of the home.Other survivors include two daughters, Darla Boettcher and Tanya Samuels and husband Todd, all of Dallas; two sisters, Carolyn and Mary Jane; four stepsons, Jason Williams, Nathan and wife Traci, Chad, and Adam Heather and wife Amber; an aunt, Elva Cullinan, Lawrence; and four grandchildren, Brian Boettcher and Hudson, Grant and Tatem Samuels. He was preceded in death by his parents.The family will receive friends after the memorial service Tuesday at the family home.
