William K. “Junior” Roberson

Funeral services for William K. “Junior” Roberson, 82, Oskaloosa, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Barnett-Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Oskaloosa. Burial will follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery in Perry.Mr. Roberson died Monday, July 28, 2008, at Hickory Pointe Care Center in Oskaloosa.He was born March 14, 1926, in Lynchburg, Va., the son of William K. Sr. and Mary Katherine Lerner Roberson. He was a former resident of Perry.Mr. Roberson served in the U.S. Navy from 1944 to 1946 and was a veteran of World War II. He worked as a tire builder for Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. in Topeka for 33 years before he retired. He previously worked as a truck driver in Virginia. He was a member of United Rubber Workers Union local in Topeka and Williamstown Assembly of God Church.He married Peggy Mae Dobyns on Nov. 1, 1947, in Chesterfield, S.C. She died Jan. 28, 1999. Survivors include two sons, Richard A., Ozawkie, and Ed, Oskaloosa; two daughters, Cynthia Stansell, Lecompton, and Norrice R. Myrick, Topeka; two brothers, Hollis, Richmond, Va., and Howard, Falls Church, Va.; two sisters, Helen Jamerson, Lynchburg, Va., and Nita Mason, Vinton, Va.; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. Mr. Roberson was preceded in death by two grandsons.The family will receive friends from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.The family suggests memorials to the Residents Activity fund of Hickory Pointe Care Center, sent in care of the funeral home, P.O.
