Services for Robert B. "Bob" Strother, 92, St. Petersburg, Fla., will be at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary.Mr. Strother died on Thursday, July 24, 2008, at Brandon Woods Retirement Community.He was born Sept. 20, 1915, in Grayson, Ky., the son of Wick and Inez Wilhoit Strother. He grew up in Grayson and later graduated with his medical degree from the University of Kentucky. He later lived in St. Petersburg, Fla., before moving to Lawrence in March.He practiced medicine in Toledo, Ohio, for 31 years at St. Luke's Hospital and retired as a general surgeon in 1993. He formerly served as Chief of Staff. Prior to that, he was a captain and flight surgeon in the U.S. Navy. He served during World War II and later retired as a flight surgeon from the Naval Reserves.Mr. Strother was a member of the Shriners for many years. He was also a member of the American Medical Association.He married Eloise Krank on Oct. 27, 1943, in Norfolk, Va. She survives, of the home.Other survivors include a daughter, Myra Strother, Lawrence; two sons, Robert B. Strother Jr., Cleveland, and John P.
