Graveside services for Herman Fox, 92, Lawrence, with full military honors will be at noon Monday in Mound Zion Cemetery in Milwaukee. A Shiva service will be at 7 p.m. Saturday in Lawrence. For location information, call Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home.Mr. Fox died Thursday, July 24, 2008, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.He was born May 22, 1916, in New York, the son of Elsie and Benjamin Fuchs. He was raised in Brooklyn, N.Y., before he moved to Milwaukee.Mr. Fox served in the U.S. Army Air Corps as a military policeman in the European theater and attained the rank of staff sergeant. He worked as an elevator operator in the garment district in Brooklyn, N.Y., before he was drafted. He worked as a trolley operator and bus driver for the Milwaukee Transit System for 32 years and retired in 1981.He volunteered at Zablocki VA Medical Center in Milwaukee and accumulated more than 21,000 hours of service. He was a member of Milwaukee-Harmony Lodge 261, F.&A.M., and was active in Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion, Scottish Rites and the Tripoli Shrine Temple in Milwaukee. He enjoyed spending time with family.He married Mary Budner in 1946. She died in 1991.Survivors include a son, Michael Fox and wife Catherine Lyman, Lawrence; a daughter, Barbara Casella and husband David, Sacramento, Calif.; two grandchildren, Lyman and Lena Fox; a brother, Irving, New York; and a sister, Shirley Scott, New York.The family suggests memorials to the Lawrence Jewish Community Center, 917 Highland Drive, Lawrence 66044.Online condolences may be sent at www.rumsey-yost.com.
