Cody Mark Horton 1956 - 2008 Perry

A celebration of life service for Cody Mark Horton, 52, Perry, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Perry American Legion Post 142. Cremation will follow the service. Mr. Horton died Wednesday, July 23, 2008, from injuries received in a work-related accident near Tonganoxie in Leavenworth County.He was born Jan. 7, 1956, in Miami, Okla., the son of Herbert Lee and Ramona Lee Henderson Horton. He graduated from Perry-Lecompton High School in 1974 and attended vocational-technical school in Topeka. He lived in the Perry area since 1968. Mr. Horton worked as an equipment operator for Capital Electric Line Builder's Company for 35 years and was a member of I.B.E.W. Union local 304 in Topeka. He was a member of the Prairie Band Potawatomi Tribe in Mayetta and a life member of the Horton Mafia.He married Inez Marie Jones on Sept. 16, 1989, in Perry. She survives, of the home. Other survivors include a stepson, Dusty Cottrell and wife Sonya, Topeka; a son, Cody Joseph Horton, of the home; three daughters, Darian Rohr, Wichita, and Tiffany Marie and Stephanie Inez Horton, both of the home; two brothers, Shawn Horton, Broken Arrow, Okla., and Kim Horton, Lawrence; four sisters, Sharon Ripperger and Cindy Horton, both of Galena, Mo., Novale Tyner, Lawrence, and Jill Bleil, Leavenworth; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Lloyd and Judy Jones, Perry; two brothers-in-law, Dennis Jones, Williamstown, and Ernie Jones, Topeka; and three grandchildren.The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Lawrence Funeral Chapel.
