Mack Alexander Ralston 1915 - 2008 Lawrence
A memorial service for Mack Alexander Ralston, 93, Lawrence, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 2, at First Baptist Church in Terre Haute, Ind. Inurnment will be in Center Ridge Cemetery in Sullivan, Ind. Mr. Ralston died Saturday, July 12, 2008, at Brandon Woods Retirement Community in Lawrence. He was born May 9, 1915, in Clay City, Ind., the son of Alexander Jacob and Nellie Truitt Ralston. He received Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts degrees from Indiana State University. He received a doctoral degree from Indiana University. Mr. Ralston served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a teacher in Indiana for 20 years and a professor at Arizona State University until he retired in 1985.He married Marjorie Kathleen Nash on Oct. 23, 1940, in Brazil, Ind. She died Sept. 16, 2006.Survivors include two daughters, Kathleen Guthrie and husband Tim Barner, Washing-ton, D.C., and Jan Mahlios and husband Marc, Lawrence; a son, Timothy and wife Julie, Atlanta; a sister, Wygonda Foltz, Boonville, Ind.; two sisters-in-law, Marjorie Ralston and Nancy Schoonover, both of Terre Haute; seven grandchildren, Amy, Doug, Tim, Christy, Erin, Emily and Josh; and eight great-grandchildren.The family suggests memorials to Brandon Woods Employee Recognition, sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary.
