Robert Lee Worley

Funeral services for Robert Lee Worley, 79, Lawrence, will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Central United Methodist Church. Graveside services with military honors will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.Mr. Worley died Tuesday, July 8, 2008, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.He was born July 27, 1928, in Lecompton, the son of Charles Russell and Dora Belle Dunn Worley. He graduated from Lecompton High School. Mr. Worley served in the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II and was stationed in Hawaii. He worked for Lawrence Paper Co. for many years. He was a member of American Legion Dorsey-Liberty Post 14, Cedar Hills Trap Shooting Club and the Kansas State Horse Show Circuit. He attended Central United Methodist Church.He married Velma Edmonds on March 31, 1950, in Lawrence. She survives, of the home.Other survivors include a daughter, Debbie Krische and husband Robert, Baldwin City; a son, Allan and wife Cindy, Hays; four grandchildren, Amy Dunn, Matthew and Lisa Krische and Sarah Green; four great-grandchildren, Lucas, Andrew and Josh Dunn and Natalie Krische.Mr. Worley was preceded in death by a grandson, Jarett Worley, in 2002; two brothers, Charles and Jack Worley; and a sister, Betty Woodman.The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary.The family suggests memorials to the church, sent in care of the mortuary.Online condolences may be sent at www.warrenmcelwain.com, subject: Worley.
