Robert “Bob” Edward Stone

Services for Robert “Bob” Edward Stone, 75, Spring Hill, will beat 11 a.m. Monday at Gardner Friends Church. Burial will be in Hesper Cemetery in rural Eudora.Mr. Stone died Thursday, July 3, 2008, at his home.He was born Dec. 14, 1932, in Kenneth, the son of Gilbert Lee Stone Sr. and Mildred Frances Howell Stone. He attended Bellview School. He worked for farmers in the Olathe and Morse area. In 1952 his family moved to the Hesper community. He served two years in the U.S. Army, with 18 months in Korea.He worked for Hyer Boot Co. in Olathe. From 1968 to 1986, he worked for Penny Redi-Mix Concrete Co in Lawrence. He married Tressa Ella Griffin on May 29, 1956, in Hesper. She survives, of the home.Other survivors include five sons, Albert, Gardner, Eldon, Kansas City, Kan., Wayne, Eudora, Wesley, Spring Hill, and Timothy, Richlands, N C; three brothers, Bill, Gilbert Jr. and Herb; one sister, Grace Shoemaker; 18 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.A grandson died earlier. Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday at Bruce Funeral Home in Gardner. The family suggests memorial contributions to Gardner Friends Church or Olathe Hospice.
