Billy Joe Berry Sr.

A funeral Mass for Billy Joe Berry Sr., 63, McLouth, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Sacred Heart Church in Tonganoxie. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery in Tonganoxie.Mr. Berry died Monday, Jan. 28, 2008, at Kansas University Medical Center after a battle with cancer.He was born Sept. 3, 1934, in Longton, the son of Addison and Letha B. Hare Berry. He graduated from Longton High School in 1953. He worked in the auger cast pile foundation industry throughout the country and was heavily involved with building the industry until he retired in 1994. He was a farmer and raised and rented bulls for breeding after he retired. He attended Sacred Heart Church in Tonganoxie and was a member of the National Rifle Association, Ducks Unlimited and Bass Masters.Mr. Berry married Lyla Jean Bruce on June 28, 1953, in Elk City. They divorced. He married Marylee Ann Bradford on May 3, 1986, in McLouth. She survives, of the home. Other survivors include his mother, Letha B. Berry, Chanute; two sons, Billy J. Jr., and wife Cindy, Olathe, and Allen L., Omaha, Neb.; two daughters, Lyla Marie Hinsley and husband Ron, Round Rock, Texas, and Autumn Marie Eckman and husband Mike, Baldwin City; a sister, Sharon Rosenberry and husband Dave, Chanute; a sister-in-law, Kathy Berry, Kansas City, Kan.; eight grandchildren, Brent, James and Joshua Berry, Lynda, Kathryn and Brett Hinsley, Martin Hutfless and Ethan Eckman. He was preceded in death by two daughters, Lynda Joy Berry and Robina Jean Hutfless, and a brother, Marion Alfred Berry.The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Barnett-Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Oskaloosa.
