Martha Elizabeth Montfoort 1919 - 2008 formerly of Topeka
Funeral services for Martha Elizabeth Montfoort, 88, formerly of Topeka, will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel in Topeka. Burial will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, southeast of Topeka.Mrs. Montfoort died Thursday, Jan. 17, 2008, at a hospital in Phoenix.She was born March 4, 1919, in Topeka, the daughter of Charles and Maude Deskins Allbaugh.Mrs. Montfoort worked as a clerk and a substitute mail carrier for the post office in Richland. She enjoyed music, church activities and her family. She married Charles J. Montfoort in 1938. He died in 1995.A sister, Dorothy Allbaugh, and a brother, Edgar Allbaugh, also preceded her in death.Survivors include a son, John Montfoort, Phoenix; a daughter, Marilyn Roelse, Phoenix; two granddaughters, Gina Montfoort-Carey and Robyn Montfoort; two great-grandchildren, Skyler and Lucas Carey; a brother, Alden Allbaugh, Newton; and a sister, Julia Brooks, Lawrence.Friends may call after 3 p.m. today at Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel.
