Cecil G. Wolgast

A memorial service for Cecil G. Wolgast, 75, Lawrence, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home. He was cremated. Mr. Wolgast died Friday, Jan. 18, 2008, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital. He was born Feb. 13, 1932, in Ottawa, the son of Edwin L. and Artie M. Haynes Wolgast. He graduated from Ottawa High School in 1950. He entered the U.S. Air Force in 1951 and served until 1955 during the Korean War. After his service he ran the Ottawa Bowling Alley for several years, then worked for Hallmark Cards until his retirement in 1992. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Mount Oread Aerie 309 in Lawrence. He married Paula G. Transue on March 11, 1985, in Las Vegas. She survives, of the home. Other survivors include a son, Wayne A. Wolgast and wife Debbie, of Ozawkie; a daughter, Ellen Kratzberg and husband Mike, of Richland; three stepsons, Bradley D. Kilburn and wife Mary, of Tucson, Ariz., Barry W. Kilburn, of Overland Park, and Robert J. Kilburn and wife Lori, of Richmond, Texas; and six grandchildren, Christine, Cody, Megan, Waylon, Jordan and Matthew.The family will receive friends at the Eagles Lodge in Lawrence after the memorial service. The family suggests memorials to the Douglas County Visiting Nurses Association or Hospice Care in Douglas County, sent in care of the funeral home.
