Richard Lane Robins

Kansas City, Mo. – A celebration of life for Richard Lane Robins, 69, Kansas City, Mo., will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Kansas City, Mo.Mr. Robins died Monday, Jan. 14, 2008, in Kansas City, Mo., from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. He was born March 19, 1938, in Cimarron, Kan., the son of Samuel B. and Ida Mea Elizabeth Robins. He graduated from Cimarron High School and Emporia State Teachers College.Mr. Robins taught music in Admire, Kan., and McLouth, Kan., for 37 years and retired in 2000. He worked as a part-time professional driver and trainer for Manheim Auto Auction in Kansas City, Mo., at the time of his death.Survivors include his wife, Gerry Ann, of the home; a son, Fletcher L.; two stepsons, Douglas Bell and wife Sharon and Sean Rumage and wife Cindy; four stepdaughters, Karen Coates and husband Tony, Debi Sherwood and husband John, Glenda Spellerberg and husband Richard, and Jodi Francis and husband Chris; four brothers, Bert, John “Jack,” Lawrence and Don; two sisters, Annabeth Robins Grooms and Laree Robins Maxwell; 21 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Robert D., Edward L. and William D.; and a sister, Marion Robins Campbell.
