Philip Dean Brent

Topeka – Funeral services for Philip Dean Brent, 75, Silver Lake, will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the Davidson Funeral Home in Topeka. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Topeka.Mr. Brent died Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2008, at Midland Hospice Care in Topeka.He was born March 30, 1932, in Topeka, the son of Orville and Olive Brent. He lived in the Topeka area all of his life.Mr. Brent served in the U.S. Naval Reserves. He worked at the Santa Fe Railway for 11 years. He owned and operated Brent Photography and Associates. He worked in the photography business for 61 years and specialized in wedding and portrait photography. He was president of the Kansas Professional Photography Association and twice president of the Topeka Professional Photographers Association. He was a lifetime member in Professional Photographers of America, Kansas Professional Photographers Association and Topeka Professional Photographers. He was also a member of the Northland Christian Church.Mr. Brent received the National Award in Photography, Professional Photographers of America Master and Craftsman degrees, the Centurian Award for the state of Kansas and 10 Kodak gallery print awards. He married Merle E. Gauby on May 18, 1956. She survives, of the home. Other survivors include two sons, Don, Topeka, and David, Silver Lake; three daughters, Debra Brent, Dee Hayes, Cleveland, Mo., and Darcia Brent, Lawrence; a brother, Orville; 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.He was preceded in death by a granddaughter.Friends may call from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, where the family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Thursday.The family suggests memorials to Midland Hospice Care or the Northland Christian Church, sent in care of the funeral home, 1035 N.
