Edythe Gottberg 1918 - 2007 Lawrence
Memorial services for Edythe Gottberg, 89, Lawrence, were Sunday at North Lawrence Christian Church. She was cremated.Mrs. Gottberg died Tuesday, Dec. 25, 2007, at The Windsor in Lawrence.She was born Jan. 28, 1918, in Langley, the daughter of Emery and Bertha Ellen Irvin Crane. She lived in California for more than 50 years before she returned to Kansas.Mrs. Gottberg worked as a welder during World War II. She was a bookkeeper. She also worked as a sales associate at Nightingale's in Topeka and as a clerk in a general store in San Diego. She was a member of United Methodist Church in Colby and San Diego and North Lawrence Christian Church.She was involved with the Girl Scouts, March of Dimes, Eastern Star, Angels Unaware and Ladies Auxiliary of the National Association of Letter Carriers. She was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Kingman, Ariz., and the American Legion in Lawrence.She married John Nicholas Gottberg. He preceded her in death. She married Wylbur Baker. He preceded her in death.Survivors include a daughter, Dorothy Louise Gottberg, Sacramento, Calif.; a sister, Dorothy Louise Smelser, Lawrence; two granddaughters; and a great-granddaughter.
