Melvin Eugene Kibbee

Memorial services for Melvin Eugene Kibbee, 79, Bakersfield, Calif., will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Lecompton United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery.Mr. Kibbee died Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2007, in Bakersfield.He was born Feb. 11, 1928, in Effingham, the son of Roy and Musie Kibbee. He moved to California in the early 1950s.Mr. Kibbee served in the U.S. Navy and was honorably discharged. He owned and operated S&M Salvage and Kibbee Trucking, both in Bakersfield. He designed and built a unique vehicle transporter for Vesper Trailers that hauled five trailers at once. He was a member of the Model T Ford Club.He enjoyed antiques and owned many collectibles. He also enjoyed going to truck and antique car shows, drag races and walking the new NASCAR track at Interstate 5 with his sons Chuck and JR.Survivors include three sons, Danny, Chuck and Ronald; a daughter, Susie Jones and husband JR; five sisters, Lois Hamrick, Florida, Thelma Bellinger and husband Dale, Irene Dark and husband Bob, Mary Francis Soetaert and husband Bob, and Dorothy Hetzel and husband John, all of Kansas; a brother, Kenneth and wife Carol, Kansas; seven grandchildren, McKenzie, Macey, Tori and Riley Kibbee, Jeff, Sarah and Lisa Jones; and a stepgranddaughter, Brittny Jones.The family suggests memorials to Lecompton United Methodist Church, P.O.
