Leonard Eugene Shuck

Services for Leonard Eugene Shuck, 61, Ottawa, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Dengel and Son Mortuary in Ottawa. Burial will be in Union Cemetery near Centropolis.Mr. Shuck died Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2008, at Richmond Care Center in Richmond.He was born Oct. 30, 1946, in Lawrence, the son of Byron B. and Dorothy “Beth” Kring Shuck. He graduated from Pomona High School in 1964.He was a dairy farmer for more than 20 years for Jamison Dairy in Centropolis. He owned and operated a dairy farm from 1989 to 1996. In 1996 he was a truck driver for TransAmerica and Our Own Hardware. Since 1997, he owned and operated Leonard Shuck Trucking and delivered milk in the Ottawa area.Mr. Shuck served in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves from 1964 to 1970. He was a member of Centropolis Christian Church and former member of First Christian Church of Ottawa, serving as deacon. He was also a member and former president of West Franklin school board. He served on the Franklin County Fair board, was a charter board member of Douglas County Rural Water District No. 5, a volunteer fireman and former chief of the Centropolis Fire Department.He married Dee Ann Crawford on March 11, 1966, in Centropolis. She survives, of the home.Other survivors include his father, Ottawa; a daughter, Tracy Martin and husband Mark, Texas; a son, Travis and wife Sayre, Boise City, Okla.; three sisters, Dianna Taylor and husband Bud, Ottawa, Katherine Smith, Olathe, and Carolyn White, Edgerton; and five grandchildren, Paige, Alec and Clay Martin and Tayden and Dylan Shuck.Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today at the mortuary, where the family will receive them from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. today.The family suggests memorials to Centropolis Christian Church, sent in care of the mortuary, 235 S.
