Memorial services for Ronald W. Salber, 68, Lawrence, will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Trinity Lutheran Church. Burial will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Memorial Park Cemetery.Mr. Salber died Monday, Feb. 25, 2008, at Colmery-O’Neil Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Topeka.He was born May 27, 1939, in Waldo, the son of Frank and Ruth Buhrle Salber. He graduated from Waldo schools.Mr. Salber served in the U.S. Navy and was a veteran of the Vietnam era. He had been a firefighter in Manhattan and after moving to Lawrence he worked for Sunflower Army Ammunition Plant near De Soto. He worked in the oil fields and later owned K & S Oil Well Services. He worked at Lawrence Paper Co. for several years before he retired. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.He married Carol Ann Kaufman on Feb. 13, 1965, in Russell. She survives, of the home.Other survivors include a son, Ryan and wife Karen, Lawrence; a daughter, Kelly Rice and husband Joseph, Lawrence; his mother, Ruth, Lawrence; a brother, Gene, St. Paul, Minn.; a granddaughter, Olivia; and three stepgrandchildren, Dale, Sean and Nicole.The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary.The family suggests memorials to the church, sent in care of the mortuary.Online condolences may be sent at www.warrenmcelwain.com, subject: Salber.
