Lyle Warner Clark

Funeral services for Lyle Warner Clark, 80, Baldwin City, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church in Baldwin City. Burial will follow in Deay Cemetery south of Eudora.Mr. Clark died Monday, Feb. 25, 2008, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.He was born March 24, 1927, on the family farm in Clearfield. He attended Pleasant Oak Grade School near Clearfield and graduated from Baldwin High School in 1944. He attended Kansas University for two years.Mr. Clark farmed and operated an agricultural lime hauling service for many years. He bought Clark’s Rock Quarry from his father and later co-owned Killough-Clark Inc. in Ottawa. After selling his share of that business in the 1970s, he continued farming for 35 years.He was a member of First United Methodist Church. He was a board member and treasurer of the Tauy Creek Watershed District for more than 25 years. He received the Kansas Bankers Association Soil Conservation Award in 1991.Mr. Clark enjoyed fishing, bowling, golfing, hunting, shooting pool with his grandchildren and attending all of their sporting events. He married Mary M. Kalb on July 28, 1957, in Baldwin City. They shared more than 44 years of marriage. She died April 13, 2002.Mr. Clark also was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Pat Simmons.Survivors include a daughter, Sandra Kramer and husband Kerry, McLouth, a son, Jay and wife Angie, Ottawa; two sisters, Jean Clark, Portland, Ore., and Darlene Thurlo, Raytown, Mo.; and five grandchildren, Tiffany and Kassidie Kramer and Branden, Zac and Tucker Clark.The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Lamb-Roberts Funeral Home in Baldwin City.
