Clyde F, Mersmann

Funeral services for Clyde F. Mersmann, 84, Lawrence, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Holy Family Catholic Church in Eudora. Burial will be in Holy Family Cemetery in Eudora.Mr. Mersmann died Monday, Feb. 25, 2008, at Pioneer Ridge Retirement Community.He was born Jan. 19, 1924, in Anderson County, the son of Fred J. and Regina Lickteig Mersmann. He graduated from Richmond High School. Mr. Mersmann served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a bookkeeper and accountant for Lawrence Transfer & Storage Co. for many years. He attended both Holy Family Catholic Church in Eudora and St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Lawrence.He married Thelma Brockus on March 4, 1946, in Richmond. She died Sept. 22, 1995.Survivors include a daughter, Wanda K. Van Dyke, Lawrence; three sons, Fred C. and Thomas C., both of Lawrence, and Walter L., Eudora; four brothers Frank, Osage City, Lawrence, Walnut Creek, Calif., James, Columbiana, Ala., and Mark, Chesterfield, Mo; a sister, Cleo Monroe, Phoenix; 19 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Michael W., and a grandson, Adam Mersmann.
