Elva Irene Jordan

Funeral services for Elva Irene Jordan, 89, Eudora, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary, Eudora Chapel. Burial will be in De Soto Cemetery.Mrs. Jordan died Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2008, at the Baldwin Healthcare Center.She was born June 29, 1918, in Kansas City, Mo., the daughter of Francis Melford and Lucy May Vaughn Beamon. She graduated from De Soto High School.Mrs. Jordan co-owned and operated Jordan’s Market from 1954 until she retired in 1970. She was a member of First Southern Baptist Church in Eudora, Order of Eastern Star Evangeline Chapter 162 in Baldwin City, the Helianthus Club in Eudora and the Bentsen Grove Texas Cloggers. She was also a past matron of the Order of Eastern Star and a member of the craft and hobby club of Baldwin City.She married Claud R. Jordan on June 20, 1934, in Kansas City, Kan. He preceded her in death.Survivors include a son, Raymond Lee, Stockton, Mo.; two daughters, Claudia Darlene Randel, Eudora, and Shirley Ann Cummings, Olathe; 13 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.Friends may call from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Friday at the mortuary, where the family will receive them from noon to 1 p.m. Saturday before the services.The family suggests memorials to the Elva Jordan Memorial Fund, sent in care of the mortuary.Online condolences may be sent at www.warrenmcelwain.com, subject: Jordan.
