Benton Roy Hanan Jr. 1915 - 2008 Rockville, Md.
Services for the Rev. Benton Roy Hanan Jr., 92, Waldorf, Md., will be at 1 p.m. March 15 at Rockville Christian Church in Rockville.Mr. Hanan died Sunday, Feb. 10, 2008, in Waldorf, after a battle with cancer.He was born July 6, 1915, in Big Cabin, Okla., the son of Benton Roy Sr. and Ethel Brown Hanan. He attended Phillips University and Yale University.Mr. Hanan was a minister of Disciples of Christ. He was a member of the Lawrence, Kan., Mental Health Association Board, Kiwanis and the Rockville Senior Commission.He married Lucretia Jean Barricklow on June 9, 1946, in Athens, Ohio. She survives, of the home.Other survivors include three sons, Barry, San Diego, Brad, Napa, Calif., and Mark, New Orleans; a daughter, Kim Richards, Waldorf; two brothers, Calvin, Tulsa, Okla., and Dan, Houston; Marie Helling, Tustin, Calif.; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.The family suggests memorials to Rockville Christian Church, 301 Adclare Road, Rockville, MD 20850.
