Allen Lewis Tade

Services for Allen Lewis Tade, 86, Lawrence, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church in Lawrence. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery in Lawrence.Mr. Tade died Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2008, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.He was born June 21, 1921, in Boyle, Alberta, Canada, the son of Floyd E. and Iva Dell Williams Tade. He graduated from Eureka High School in 1940 and attended aircraft school in Wichita. He completed a course in natural gas production and transmission with the Chicago Institute of Technology and a study of the natural gas industry at Kansas University. He and his wife moved to Lawrence in July 1982.Mr. Tade served in the U.S. Army as an ordnance technical sergeant during World War II. He completed 18 months of service in Europe, including in England, France, Belgium and Germany. He worked for Cities Service Gas Co. from 1941 to 1982. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans, Kiwanis Club, Henri Masonic Lodge in Tonganoxie, Scottish Rite 32nd degree and Midian Shrine in Wichita. He served on the Tonganoxie City Council and Grade School Board. He volunteered at Lawrence Memorial Hospital for nine years and was a member of First United Methodist Church.Mr. Tade married Mary Maydeen Hendricks on Oct. 12, 1946, in Newton. She survives, of the home.Other survivors include a daughter, Nancy Suzanne Stoppel and husband Larry, Washington, Kan.; a son, Jeffrey A. and partner Bruce Hall, Beverton, Ore.; two brothers, Paul, Encino, Calif., and Miles, Wichita; a sister, Lucille Hamilton, Four Oaks, Calif.; and two grandsons, Christopher and Jon Stoppel. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Calvin L. and Glenn L.; and a sister, Madge Penny.
