Jeanette L. Hershey

A celebration of life for Jeanette L. Hershey, 89, Boulder, will be announced at a later date. Mrs. Hershey died Saturday, Feb. 9, 2008, in Boulder. She was born July 5, 1918, in Lawrence, Kan., the daughter of James and Marie Houk. She graduated from Lawrence High School and Kansas University, where she majored in German. She moved to Boulder in 1964.Mrs. Hershey was a lifelong volunteer and donated her time to the Cub Scouts, Brownies, being a room mother, Lawrence Memorial Hospital, Boulder Memorial Hospital, Meals on Wheels and as a companion to the elderly. She was also a strong supporter of animal rights. She enjoyed traveling and had visited Europe, Africa, the Caribbean, Pacific Islands and most of the U.S.She married Bill Bodin. They divorced. She married Dick Hershey in 1978. He preceded her in death.Survivors include a son, Jim Bodin and wife Catie; a daughter, Mary Welch and husband Don; a stepdaughter, Sandy Harden and husband Gene; 10 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.The family suggests memorials to the Boulder Humane Society, 2323 55th St., Boulder, CO 80301.
