Karen Bartlett

Funeral services for Karen Bartlett, 57, McLouth, will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Church of the Nazarene in McLouth. Burial will be in Wildhorse Cemetery. Mrs. Bartlett died Thursday, Feb. 7, 2008, at Jefferson County Memorial Geriatric Center. She was born July 10, 1950, in Kansas City, Kan., the daughter of Raymond and Lela Thomas. She moved to Basehor when she was 9.Mrs. Bartlett owned many restaurants, including Bartlett’s Fried Chicken, the Harvest House and Porter House. She supported many community groups and was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary Post 9271.Survivors include her husband, Vern “Butch” Bartlett III; a son, Dwain Porter; a stepson, Vern “Skeeter” Bartlett IV; her parents; three sisters, Pam Freeman, Janet Atkins and Cindy Whited; and a brother, Brian Thomas.The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday at the church.The family suggests memorials to Jefferson County Hospice, sent in care of Barnett Chapel Oaks Funeral Home, P.O.
